The Tiny Boy - Part 1

In a small village in the southern part of Mabu, lived Mr. and Mrs. Hadabu. For a long time they desired to have children but unfortunately every time Mrs Flora Hadabu gave birth to a child, it died within a short period of time. This happened many times. Many people in the village said that the entire Hadabu family was bewitched. When she was expecting her ninth child, Flora went to consult a witch doctor without telling her husband.
The witchdoctor said that her husband was a witch and  killed his own children before they could grow old. When Flora asked why her husband could do such a thing, the witch doctor said "Your husband is selfish, he does not want his children to grow up and take the twenty herds of cattle you have".
Flora was surprised because  the family did not have any cattle. They were very poor. They did not have enough food or clothes. Their one roomed house was made of poles, mud and grass. Flora went back home very sad but did not tell anyone about what had happened.
When she was six months pregnant, Flora gave birth to a tiny boy. This was before the expected time, which is nine months. She wrapped the boy in special leaves which provided warmth to the frail little frame. The people of the village called those leaves "Moto-Maisha"which literally means 'fire which brings life'. For three weeks, the tiny boy struggled in the traditional incubation system.
Mr Hadabu had no clue that his wife had given birth, in part because Flora had her own little sleeping house, a few metres away from his abode.
One day, the noise of a big car was heard in the village. Everyone knew that the monthly visits from development organisation - WoW! (World Outreach Works)-were on their doorsteps. Flora rushed to meet one of the nurses, who had jumped out of the car and was fixing the weighing scale in preparation for the child monitoring exercise.
"How are you Flora", Gora the nurse asked.
"Not too well"answered Flora.
She explained her ordeal and Gora was anxious to see the child.
"Where is it?"
Flora slowly uwrapped the tiny boy she had hidden on her side. Gora was shocked but went ahead to weigh the child. It was 800grams.
"How did this child survive?"asked Gora.
"You are a nurse", said Flora. "You should know better".
